I get the feeling an artist was running too close to the deadline for publication, and had his pre-teen kid do a sketch, which he then submitted as his own. With how cheap this book is going for these days, any old school maunal, or even manua who just wants to understand what we were all so obsessed about, should definitely pick this up.
The layout of this book is excellent with only one monster per page, makes it easy to quickly find resources when they are needed. It would also mean they would only need to purchase core volumes and appendix volumes for the campaigns they wanted, rather than getting a mix of monsters in books.
I highly recommand this book because of its mutliple levels of value and how easy it is to use. Like the Fiend Folio before it, the monsters in Monster Manual II listed the experience point value for each monster within the entry.
This will be the perfect, easy-to-use replacement for the bulkier compendiums of the past.

Inthe Monstrous Manual was released,  compiling all monsters from the first two volumes of the Monstrous Compendium plus a large number of monsters from other sources into a page hardcover book edited by Doug Stewart.
